Reconciliation between Ghanem and Bani Hassan tribes in the Qalizan area of ​​Al-Radoum locality, South Darfur

Amidst an atmosphere of joy, on Friday, November 14, 2025, in the Qalizan area of Al-Radoum locality in South Darfur, a reconciliation took place between Ghanem and Bani Hassan from the branches of the Habaniya tribe, after mediation efforts led by the Mediation Committee and the Buram Peace Committee in partnership with the Community Development Organization, which lasted for more than two months.
It is reported that a violent conflict broke out between Ghanem and Bani Hassan, which claimed the lives of 9 people from both sides more than a year ago in the Kendi area of Buram locality in South Darfur, leading to the displacement of hundreds of families from the area.
The months-long dialogue, led by a mediation committee comprised of the Chief of native Admistration of the Habaniya tribe and the Buram Peace Committee, with support from the Community Development Organization, has resulted in an agreement and the return of more than 200 families to the Kendi area so far.

This is part of a project to enhance opportunities for youth and women to contribute to peace and security in South and East Darfur.
